YouTube adds support for HRD video

YouTube added support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) videos. This new technology joins other product features that have already been added previously, such as 4K video, live streaming and 3D, 360-degree video.

This way, users can now watch YouTube videos in HDR on supported devices, such as HDR TVs and the new Chromecast Ultra. The Xbox One S and PlayStation 4 consoles also support HDR. If users don’t have an HDR device, YouTube said videos will still play as before in SDR.

In addition, any creator can upload HDR videos to YouTube, the company said in a blog post. YouTube has already added to its platform some videos from creators like MysteryGuitarMan, Jacob + Katie Schwarz, and Abandon Visuals.
