VTR from Chile seeks to be leader in HD channels by adding 12 new and reaching a total of 62

Telecommunications company VTR (Liberty Global) from Chile launched 12 new channels in HD and, with a total of 62, comes near in the supply of this type of TV programming to Movistar (Telefonica), which has a total of 70 High Definition channels in that country.

The signals incorporated into their grid are Nick Jr. HD, Animal Planet HD, Film & Arts HD, Fox Life HD, MTV Latin America HD, TBS HD, El Gourmet HD, Canal Formula 1 HD, TVE Star HD, Antena 3 HD, ESPN 2 HD and Fox Sports 3 HD.

In November 2015, the CEO of VTR, Guillermo Ponce, announced the local site Economia & Negocios that the company would invest 20% of their income on HD TV programming and its broadband service in 2016.

According to figures published in January 2016 by the Sub-secretary of Telecommunications (Subtel) of Chile to the third quarter of 2015, VTR is the leading company in the Pay-TV sector with a market share of 35% (1,022,000 subscribers), followed by Movistar with 21.6% (632,000 subscribers).
