Verizon bought 25% of video MCN AwesomenessTV to launch a new mobile SVOD

US broadband and fixed and mobile telephony operator Verizon Communications stated it has bought 24.5% of the shares of the online video multi-channel network (MCN) AwesomenessTV (DreamWorks Animation).

Verizon plans to launch a new Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) service to accompany the offer of its mobile video platform Go90, launched in September 2015 and available in the United States.

The operator is looking for expansion. Recently, the financial news agency Bloomberg reported that Verizon is interested in buying digital technology company Yahoo, also in the target of its direct competition, Google.

AwesomenessTV contents are available on its YouTube MCN and are distributed in Latin America (except for Brazil) by US digital solutions company Vubiquity as well as in the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Europe.
