Uno TV does not violate America Movil’s license in Mexico according to the IFT

The full Commission of the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) of Mexico ruled that the telecommunications company America Movil does not violate its concession by offering its news and video website Uno TV.

America Movil’s license forbids it from providing television services in the Mexican territory but Uno TV’s audiovisual content, being distributed online, is protected under net neutrality since it can be accessed through any broadband provider.

Uno TV, as well as Video On Demand (VOD) service Claro Video and Pay-TV channel Claro Sports (transmitted in Mexico through Dish, Megacable and Axtel Pay-TV operators) will broadcast the coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, also shared with Pay-TV networks ESPN and Fox Sports and public Free-to-Air TV signals Canal 11 (National Polytechnic Institute) and Canal 22 (Ministry of Culture of Mexico).
