US social network Twitter debuted its first live stream broadcast on Wednesday from Wimbledon. The high definition-quality stream is offered in partnership with ESPN.
Since ESPN has exclusive rights to the tennis event, Twitter’s platform is only broadcasting highlights, commentary and replays.
The service features a live player on the left side while the right side included tweets about the event.
“Twitter is increasingly a place where people can find live streaming video, and that includes exciting sporting events like Wimbledon. This livestream is an extremely early and incomplete test experience, and we’ll be making lots of improvements before we launch it in its final form”, Twitter said on a statement.
This way, the social media is testing the platform before it begins streaming Thursday Night Football games this fall as part of a long-term deal with the National Football League.
