Turner México announced the expansion of CNN en Español in the Mexican market after closing a distribution deal with Megacable, the largest cable operator in the country. This way, Turner’s channel will gain 1.2 million subscribers.
The news channel is already available in Megacable’s mini basic package. “For CNN en Español, the leading channel in information and credibility, this deal means reaching over ten million homes in Mexico by strengthening the strategic relationship with Megacable, one of most important pay-TV services in the country, with significant coverage in the states of Jalisco, Guanajuato, Veracruz and Puebla”, said Gustavo Minaker, VP for Sales and Marketing in Latin America of Turner.
Recently, Megacable ended its commercial alliance with Televisa. As result, the operator decided to drop 14 channels of Televisa Networks from its lineup. At the end of Q216 Megacable had 3 million pay TV subscribers.
