Telecentro has announced officially the launch of its new set-top boxes, which allow to access from any TV to Smart TV-like features, with direct access from the remote control, as NexTV News Latam previously announced. The new equipments have integrated access to Netflix and Telecentro’s own TV Everywhere platform, Telecentro Play, which will add new contents shortly.
Currently, Telecentro Play allows access to a complete catalogue of Fox movies and shows, from both its basic and premium channels. Soon Telecentro Play will add content from other TV Everywhere services, such as HBO, Cartoon Network, Space, TNT and ESPN Play, according to the company.
Telecentro is also testing the Youtube app for its integration with the STBs content offer. The new devices are available for new customers at no additional cost.
“Telecentro continues to focus on technological innovation in the country, and by adding this apps to our STBs, subscribers will be able to view their favorite contents with just one click on their remotes. They won’t have to switch devices or acquire a smart-TV” said Sebastian Pierri, Telecentro General Manager.
The new STBs are provided by French manufacturer Sagemcom. With this, the operator follows the same strategy adopted by other companies around the world. Comcast, main operator in the US is also integrating contents into its platform X1. In Latin America, Mexican Totalplay (Salinas Group) has already started such a strategy.
