State telecommunications company RTVC of Colombia announced that it is preparing to launch its own Video On Demand (VOD) platform, which would be made available to the public in June, local newspaper El Tiempo reported.
The service would be free and will have a VOD catalog of the network’s main contents in Colombia. The platform is at this time running as a pilot and they are making corresponding changes and technological adjustments, according to the company.
“It’s something on which we have been working patiently in a bid to modernize ourselves. We have our own software factory within the entity, used to do all the digital development, without subcontracting labor. Is a step that had to be done to enter the media convergence”, said RTVC Director of Technology, Liliana Chacon Gonzalez.
“We are in an era of technological convergence and our future proposal is seeking to become digital content providers. We conducted a series of updates, we have been recruiting talents to create in the digital area and this is the first result”, said the Manager of the company, John Jairo Ocampo.
