Netflix acquires international rights for new Star Trek series

 

OTT operator Netflix and CBS Studios International announced an international licensing agreement for the new “Star Trek” television series, schedule for 2017. Netflix will premiere the series in 188 countries (excluding the U.S and Canada). Each episodewill be available globally within 24 hours of its U.S. premiere.

 

The new “Star Trek” will launch in the U.S on CBS Television Network in January 2017. The series will be also available on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service.

 

The new series of the global franchise “Star Trek” will return to television for the first time since 2005. The production will begin in Toronto next September.

 

Additionally, all 727 existing episodes of the iconic “Star Trek” television library will be available on Netflix around the world by the end of 2016.
