Connected TV set manufacturers in Brazil -Sony and Samsung among them- agreed on the fact that VOD applications are the most popular among their users, followed by social networks Facebook and Twitter.
Over the course of the seminar TV.Apps, organized by Converge Comunicações, Samsung TV set Manager, Rafael Cintra, recognized that VOD holds leadership. Marcelo Varon, Sony Internet Video Manager, pointed out that only Facebook, Skype and Twitter are not video applications among the 40 available applications of the company’s platform.
In Sony’s platform, free-to-air TV channels SBT and Band rely on their respective applications. Therefore, users “can see whatever they want, any time they want. This complements TV programming”, Varon stated.
Band has recently announced its inclusion in LG Smart TV sets. This application enables users to gain access to the channel programming 20 minutes after being broadcasted on free-to-air TV, according to what Teletime informed. According to what Band confirmed, the inclusion of its programs in connected TV sets account for the beginning of a project that will produce Internet content, with new attractions for internauts.
