The new Premium entertainment OTT platform HBO Go has broken access records in Brazil just seven days after its launching in the country. During said period, HBO Go received approximately 177,000 visits and more than 53,000 streamings.
HBO Go content -made up of about 1,000 titles- is divided in series, movies, documentaries, specials, children and adult. The new episodes of series are included in HBO Go’s catalog between 24 and 48 hours after being broadcasted in Pay-TV channels; whereas movies take up to a week to be available. All series are available in Full HD (1080p) and most movies are offered in HD (720p).
The product is aimed at adding value to the brand and the users, being always related to a Pay-TV service. Although HBO has also launched the service for Sky subscribers, it has already started negotiations with other providers like Net and GVT, thus the possibility of a change in the model. For example, clients are likely to be charged a separate fee, depending on the outcome of such negotiations.
Brazil is the first Latin American country to receive this premium service, as it has been available in the United States since 2010. According to statements made by executives of the channel, the service is expected to reach Argentina soon.
