Brazil wants to reach 2015 with the 100% of TV set fitted with Ginga

According to what the Brazilian Casa Civil Advisor André Barbosa pointed out, the Government of such country will assign efforts and investments to interactive TV again. The objective is to include Ginga middleware -mandatorily- in TV sets produced in the country. “We want to reach 2015 with about the 100% of sold TV sets fitted with Ginga”, the official stated.

To such ends, the Brazilian Minister of Science and Technology, Aloisio Mercadante, has already held meetings with device manufacturers, and the Government is expected to announce the mandatory inclusion of DTT middleware in TV Set Basic Productive Process.

Over the course of the event TV.APPs, organized by Converge Comunicações, Barbosa stated that Connected TV sets do not compete with Ginga. It is important to “discuss about the integration of both platforms, for them to be present in the single device”, the official pointed out.

Barbosa also mentioned that the objective is that public TV “encourages interactivity in the Brazilian TV”, informed site G1. The software will take public services to the whole population thanks to TV, according to what the Advisor disclosed.
