Bolivia President Evo Morales inaugurated DTT broadcastings in the country through the state-owned channel Bolivia TV HD. “I am very glad to inaugurate our digital television, such work has been carried out jointly by authorities and collaborators like Japan and students from Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA) and Universidad Católica”, stated the chief of state.

The government’s challenge will be to install broadcasting stations in the whole country so as to rely on total coverage, “It would be great if it were present all across Bolivia, this is our great desire and challenge for all Bolivians’ goodness”, Morales added. So far, digital broadcasting has been made available in the capital city of La Paz, through UHF channel 16, as disclosed by the local media.

The state-owned channel Manager Gustavo Portocarrero has pointed out that Bolivia TV HD will be available in TV sets to be placed in different public locations. Moreover, he added that there will be two channels, a news channel and an educating-cultural one. Bolivia chose ISDB-T by mid 2010. At that moment, Morales stated that the analog blackout would take place in 2020.
