Google seeks to launch its SVOD platform YouTube Red in Mexico and Latin America

US technology company Google would be in process of launching its Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) platform YouTube Red in Mexico and Latin America in the short to medium term, local daily El Financiero reported.

“In the United States we launched the new YouTube Red monetization platform, where we charge a subscription service for people who want to avoid ads and where we can bring more money to the ecosystem. This is a service we expect, under this agreement, we can launch in Mexico”, YouTube Director for Latin America, John Farrell, told at a press conference.

YouTube Red was released only in the United States in late October 2015 and has a monthly value of USD 10 and, besides lacking advertising interruptions, it allows the user to save the videos to be viewed without an internet connection.
