Globo and Snapchat partner to generate content during the Olympics

 

The Brazilian broadcaster Globo announced through a press release that Snapchat, the leading mobile storytelling platform, will include special content from Globo during the Olympics. The partnership marks the first time that Globo will offer exclusive content of its sports coverage on a social media.

 

The initiative encompasses both Globo free-to-air channel and sports brand SporTV (Globosat). “Live Stories” will include Snaps from the major competitions captured by fans, Globo and SporTV talents, as well as the behind-the-scenes moments from competitions and around the venues.

 

By partnering with Globo, Snapchat will have access to unique content from the Globo team. The expectation is that “the combination of Globo’s quality in content with the dynamism and growing popularity of Snapchat in Brazil will increase Brazilian users’ engagement to the event”, Globo said in the press release.

 

“We are thrilled to establish this partnership with Snapchat. And the moment couldn’t be more appropriate: a huge event in Rio de Janeiro is guarantee of breathtaking images of the games. The partnership reinforces the movement Globo has been making to get closer to its audience, wherever and however they feel like. We will be side by side with Brazilian Snapchatters, recording live everything that is going on in the Olympic Games”, states Erick Brêtas, Director of Digital Media at Globo.
