Globo from Brazil will hold the first public UHD 8K live broadcast during the Olympic Games

 

TV network Globo from Brazil, together with the Japanese state media company NHK, announced through a press release that they will make the first live public transmission of video in Ultra High Definition (UHD) 8K during the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.

 

In the facilities of the Museum of Tomorrow, located in the Olympic host city, Globo will broadcast exclusively the opening and closing ceremonies and other sporting events. Details on schedule and ways to access the presentations will be published from July at museudoamanha.org.br.

 

“We are still consolidating the migration of TV consumers in Brazil to digital HD television, but as technological evolution cannot wait, the Globo team has been studying the future generation of technologies for Free-to-Air TV,” satated Globo CTO, Raymundo Barros.
