Fox Sports has announced that it will launch in September an exclusive and local channel for the Colombian market, with more hours of locally produced content, more infrastructure and local talent.
With this new initiative, “Fox Sports Colombia joins other markets that already have a 100% local channel: Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico”, said in a statement Carlos Martinez, president of Fox Networks Group Latin America.
Since its arrival in Colombia, Fox Sports has increased the hours of local production to reach the current 650 hours of original production made entirely in the country, according to Hernán Donnari, SVP of Production, Programming and Operations for FOX Sports Latin America.
Currently, Fox Sports reaches nearly six million Colombian households with a distribution close to 100% of the operators.
The channel competes in this market with Win Sports (DirecTV and RCN), which was launched in December 2012 and owns the rights to broadcast the local soccer matches. Meanwhile, one of Fox Sports’ main attractions in Latin America is the Bridgestone Libertadores Cup, among other events.
