Film institutes from six Latin American countries launch free OTT Retina Latina

Film institutes from six Latin American countries announced the launch, in conjunction with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), of the new Over-the-Top (OTT) free Video On Demand (VOD) service Retina Latina (retinalatina.org).

During the Cartagena International Film Festival, in Colombia, and the Guadalajara International Film Festival, in Mexico, film institutes of the two countries plus those of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay launched this new platform, focused on the exhibition of content with difficulties for diffusion, such as short films and documentaries.

It will also feature classic movies from each of those countries and a space for film news in Latin America. It will feature the film promotion mixed fund Proimagenes Colombia as the executing agency and the collaboration of the Conference of Latin American Film Authorities (CACI) through its DocTV Latin America program on which 17 countries of the region take part.

Participating agencies are the National Film Board (Conacine) of Bolivia; the National Film Board (Cncine) of Ecuador; the Audiovisual, Phonography and New Media Direction at the Ministry of Culture of Peru; the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (Imcine), the ICAU-National Film and Audiovisual Direction of Uruguay; and Cinematography Department of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia as coordination and technical secretariat.
