The platform and leading social network Facebook launched for Latin America and elsewhere the internal app Live Video, a tool that allows, as the name suggests, to publish on personal walls and fan pages audiovisual real-time broadcasts.
Live Video was launched on a trial basis in August 2015 only for famous users in the United States but then opened availability to residents of that country. Now, Facebook has launched the option internationally, although it is limited exclusively to iPhone owners.
The app, similar to Periscope, owned by social network Twitter, has also a built-in metric service that allows users to measure their impact on the audience. Transmissions cannot exceed 30 minutes in length.
Facebook has over one billion active users per day, according to statistics from January 2016, and is first in the rankings of online traffic in the main countries of Latin America and the world.
