Dori Media Group announced that it has signed an agreement with French premium pay TV channel Canal+ for the crime drama “El Marginal” (The Outsider). The series is a co-production from Underground Producciones and the State-owned channel TV Publica of Argentina.
“El marginal” premiered on TV Publica in Argentina in June, where it has gone on to more than triple its timeslot ratings on the channel.
The series focuses on the story of Miguel Dimarco, an ex-cop who enters the San Onofre prison under a false identity as a convict. His mission is to infiltrate a gang of prisoners who have kidnapped the daughter of a prominent judge.
“Canal+ is a premium pay TV channel that provides its subscribers with access to the highest quality content. The sale of “El Marginal” is therefore a ringing endorsement of the quality of the show. We are delighted with the show’s success in 2016, particularly its ratings success in Argentina, which we fully expect to see replicated when it is broadcast in France”, said in a statement Nadav Palti, CEO of Dori Media.
The sale to Canal+ represents the second sale of the series following a sale to Netflix, where it is available from October 7 to subscribers from Latin America, the UK, Spain, Portugal and the US.
