Costa Rica presented the model for migration to DTT


Costa Rica presented on March 8th the Reference Model and Master Plan for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) 2016-2017 which determines the general guidelines for the process that will result in the analog blackout, scheduled for December next year.


The Deputy Minister of Telecommunications of that country, Emilio Arias, presented the document to the Republic’s Comptroller General (CGR), which includes specific objectives such as the regulatory framework and spectrum use.


“This tool displays the related activities and expected results of the project nationwide, having clear that it is essential to ensure success from the technical, legal and political perspective”, stated Arias in a press release.


On 2010, Costa Rica chose the DTT Brazilian-Japanese format (ISDB-Tb) by assuring that it is the best suited to the conditions of the country from the standpoint of coverage as well as quality and robustness of the signal.
