Claro Sports application for the Olympics recorded 91 million views of different videos, while 120 million were registered on YouTube, according to data provided by Claro Sports and UNO TV Director, Elias Ayub.
In an interview with Radiofórmula, the executive explained that 64% of people watching the event via Claro Sports digital platform have used a mobile phone, 24% a computer, and the remaining 12% a tablet. Both the website and the mobile application were available in the 17 countries where America Móvil obtained broadcasting rights for the event.
According to Ayub, about 55 million cell phones in Latin America were used to watch the event. “It was very impressive, the numbers are strong. I think the experience was very good. People are thrilled”, said Ayub.
America Móvil provided a full coverage of Rio 2016 Olympic Games through Claro Claro Sports, UNO TV and the OTT service Claro Video. The mobile app offered about 3,000 hours of live events, available for Android and iOS devices.
In Mexico, the company shared the coverage with pay TV channels ESPN and Fox Sports and with free-to-air channels Canal 11 and Canal 22.
