The Chromecast app was updated and renamed as Google Cast

US technology company Google decided to rename the software behind their Chromecast digital video players as Google Cast, informed the company through the launch of a new according website (google.com/cast).

The decision makes sense as this technology broadened its use beyond Chromecasts to be incorporated in SmarTVs or connected music equipment, for example. Google Cast is compatible with other apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Google Play Movies, TED, Vevo, Twitch and Crunchyroll.

In addition, it upgraded its mobile application. “Google Cast is a technology that allows you to send your favorite apps and content from your phone, tablet or laptop directly to your TV or speakers”, explains the presentation of the new platform.
