SVOD platform Chivas TV, which belongs to Club Deportivo Guadalajara from Mexico, has surpassed the 10,000-customer mark just in one week. José Luis Higuera, CEO of Grupo Omnilife Chivas, confirmed the subscriber number in an interview with ESPN.
Higuera belives that “people still need to test the platform”. Chivas TV was officially launched in early July. It offers several subscription plans: for a six-month period, yearly, as well as the pay-per view options. The national Derby against América, for example, is the most expensive pay-per-view event, as it costs USD 26.3.
Last May, the Mexican club disrupted the professional soccer matches televising model by letting go of a 22-year partnership with telecommunications company Televisa, to launch its own OTT Chivas TV.
