Chile’s Pay-TV reached 2,943,284 subscribers at the end of 2015, according to the Subtel

 

According to figures from the Subsecretary of Telecommunications (Subtel) of Chile, Pay-TV in that country reached 2,943,284 subscribers at the end of 2015, representing an increase of 0.7% from the third quarter and of 4.7% compared to December 2014.

 

Pay-TV had a household penetration of 16.26% in December 2015 and Satellite TV accounted for 51.3% of the market with 1,510,826 subscribers over Cable TV, which obtained 48.7% with 1,432,458 subscribers.

 

Regarding operators, VTR (Liberty Global) continues as market leader with a 34.7% market share, followed by Movistar (Telefonica) with 21.6%, DirecTV (AT&T) with 17.9% and Claro (America Movil) with 14.8%. The remaining 11% belongs to other small-scale companies.
