Pay-TV operator Cablevision, leader in the Argentine market, added to its programming grid the high definition (HD) version of local Free-to-Air channel America (UNO Media), available at the 614 signal.
With this, the company reaches 45 HD channels, and thus stands in the fourth place at the local level below Pay-TV operators Telered (55), DirecTV (53) and Telecentro (51). It is followed by Gigared (40) and Supercanal (27).
After years of state monopoly on the control of the televising of professional soccer, the Government of Argentina returned to market the rights to broadcast matches of the First Division in January 2016. America broadcasts since then the meetings of San Lorenzo club as well as other important disputes such as the national derby, hence the interest of Cablevision to incorporate the channel in HD.
