Clarin Group from Argentina presented its financial statement for the second quarter of 2016 in which it reported net sales of its telecommunications company Cablevision for AR$ 7.2 billion (USD 486 millions), representing a 53.5% growth (in local currency) compared to the same period of 2015.
Cablevisión net sales accounted for close to 74% of total quarterly net sales for the Group, which recorded AR$ 9.7 billion (USD 660 million).
During the first six month of the year, Cablevisión net sales reached AR$ 14.2 billion (USD 964 million), up 54.3% from a year early. According to Clarin’s quarterly report, “the increase is mostly attributable to an increase in subscription charges (Cable TV and Internet) registered during the last twelve months and also reflects the growth in Cable, Broadband and Digital subscribers and the consolidation of Nextel Argentina”.
Total consolidated pay TV subscriber base reached 3.52 million clients as of June 2016. Of these, 3.38 million are subscribers of Cablevisión Argentina, and the remaining are from Uruguay’s operation. Internet subscribers reached 2.10 million. At the end of June, the company’s network recorded 7.82 million home passed, of which 73.4% are bidirectional homes.
