Apple TV incorporates for the first time an OTT Pay-TV operator: Sling TV

US technology company Apple announced at its Worldwide Developers Conference that it will incorporate for the first time to its Apple TV set-top box (STB) app portfolio in the United States the channel offer of a Pay-TV OTT operator: Sling TV (Dish).

The Sling TV channel grid includes some of the major linear Pay-TV channels as well as their Video On Demand (VOD) platforms through an online subscription service. With this decision, Apple would be dismissing rumors and showing disinterest at the possibility of launching its own TV service.

Apple also announced that improved access to TV Everywhere services like HBO Go, Watch ABC or Showtime Anytime by allowing a homogeneous authenticated login without the need to register for each account independently.

In addition, the company will add Fox Sports Go by midyear and Apple SVP Eddy Cue announced that it already has more than 6,000 different VOD service apps incorporated into the new STB, launched in September 2015.
