The Uruguayan state-owned telecommunications company Antel has selected Elemental video processing to power its new tier III datacenter, one of the most advanced in Latin America.
The new datacenter will provide the platform that allows Antel to expand the Uruguayan online streaming industry. In addition, it will host third party services: The BBC has recently signed a contract with Antel to become the first operator that will grant licenses to be distributed throughout the datacenter, using Elemental software.
Antel has been using Elemental’s solutions for several years to provide live streaming coverages. In fact, the technology of the Portland-based company was used to broadcast FIFA 2014 World Cup, the matches of Copa América and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games through Vera TV.
Vera OTT service offers 40 free live channels and video-on-demand (VOD) as well as premium content services. The headend for these services uses Elemental Delta, Elemental Live and Elemental Server video processing and delivery products as well as Elemental Conductor to manage workflows. Elemental Delta is specifically used for CDN origination and live, VOD and time-shifted OTT services.
