America Movil rose 1.7% its Pay-TV revenues in Latin America and reached 22 million accesses


Telecommunications company America Movil presented its earnings statement for the first quarter of 2016 in which it reported 21.9 million Pay-TV accesses for its Claro TV operator in Latin America, representing an increase of 1.7% (in local currency) compared to the same period of 2014.


The company had a significant number of net disconnections in Brazil as a result of the economic crisis but Peru, Colombia and Central America were the fastest growing regions. Total Pay-TV revenues grew by 7.9% annually and represent 8% of their total inflow.


In Brazil, its main market in fixed accesses, it reported 16 million Pay-TV subscribers, including 280,000 from Blue Interactive operator, acquired in late 2015. It had a revenue growth in this category of 4.1% thanks to the development of Video on Demand (VOD).


Pay-TV revenues in Chile fell 1.8%, in Colombia they rose 17.3% and 17.6% in Peru. In the Central America division (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama and Costa Rica) they increased 4.8% and in the Caribbean (Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic) 1.1%.


Total company revenues were of USD 12.9 billion (+14%) with a total EBITDA of USD 3.5 billion (-9.6%). Its net profit was of USD 277 million and its net debt of USD 33.3 billion. Service revenues grew 0.3% in local currency but fell 1.1% at constant exchange rate.
